Fever vs. Sky: Live Score, Caitlin Clark Injury Update, Game Results, and How to Watch the WNBA Showdown
CHICAGO — The Indiana Fever faced off against the Chicago Sky for the second time this WNBA season, but once again were without star guard Caitlin Clark, who missed her fourth straight game.
Clark is recovering from a left quad strain sustained in a May 24 loss to the New York Liberty. The Fever confirmed she wouldn’t suit up for Saturday’s Commissioner's Cup matchup at the United Center. The earliest Clark could return is Tuesday, when Indiana visits the Atlanta Dream.
Despite her absence, Indiana managed a 1-2 record over the last three games. They bounced back from two consecutive losses with an 85-76 win against the Washington Mystics on June 3, thanks to a season-high-tying 24 points from Kelsey Mitchell.
Sky Enter with Momentum, But Fever Take Control
Chicago came into Saturday riding a two-game win streak after losing their first four games of the season — including a season-opening 93-58 loss to the Fever on May 17. Angel Reese, leading the league in rebounds with 12.3 per game, has been a bright spot, but the Sky’s offense still struggles to produce consistently.
Game Highlights and Injury Updates
Natasha Howard hit a momentum-shifting three-pointer with just over a quarter and a half remaining. The Sky had nearly run out the Fever’s shot clock before Mitchell passed the ball to Howard, who sank a deep shot as the buzzer sounded. That shot extended Indiana’s lead to 54-35, with Howard totaling 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
Halftime Score: Fever 41, Sky 28
The Sky clawed their way back late in the second quarter, trimming the deficit to 34-26 after a three-pointer by Kia Nurse. But Lexie Hull answered with a three of her own, and sloppy defense by Chicago allowed Indiana to stretch the lead with four free throws in the final 35 seconds of the half.
Courtney Vandersloot Exits with Knee Injury
Chicago suffered a blow early when veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot exited the game with a knee injury. She collapsed mid-drive and had to be helped off the court. Vandersloot’s return to Chicago after two seasons with the New York Liberty was highly anticipated, and her leadership had been key in recent games.
First Quarter Recap: Indiana Starts Strong
Despite Clark’s absence, Indiana took early control, leading 21-13 after the first quarter. Mitchell led all scorers with eight points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting performance. Sky rookie Kamilla Cardoso, returning from precautionary rest due to shoulder soreness, contributed four points and three rebounds in the first period.
